Change your Facebook password

Change your Facebook password by following these steps.

What to know before you change your password

To help keep your account safe, you can only reset your password a certain number of times a day.
If you don't remember your current password, you can select Forgot your password? to get a reset link sent to your email. If you can't access the email address on your account, you can learn how to recover your account without email access.
If you have two-factor authentication turned on, you won’t be able to use the same mobile phone number that you use for two-factor authentication to reset your password. You'll need to add a different mobile phone number or email address to your account.

Change your Facebook password

Log into your Facebook account.
Tap Menu in the top right of Facebook.
Tap Settings & privacy, then tap Settings.
Tap Accounts Center and select Password and security. If you don't see Accounts Center, select Password and security.
Tap Change password, then tap the account you'd like to update.
- If you remember your password: Enter your current password and new password.
- If you don’t remember your password: Select Forgot your password?

If you forgot your password and can't log in

On the login screen, tap Forgot password?
Enter the email address, mobile phone number, full name or username associated with your account, then tap Search.
Follow the on-screen instructions.
